Hello Everyone!
Welcome to my Substack newsletter. I’m excited to share some exciting events and updates coming up.
As Adoptee Thoughts continues to grow I wanted to be able to share the nuances of creating adoptee led resources by a multiracial, Indigenous, Latina, transracial, late-discover adoptee. Whew-that is a mouthful!
We finished off last month with an amazing bookclub discussion and my first solo led workshop! And part of running a business is the little bumps in the road. So I appreciate you all for your patience and support as I work to make future events educational, fun (when possible), and accessible.
One of the things I learned last month is that I needed to have a way to know just how many attendees are joining the LIVE event versus purchasing tickets for the recording. Moving forward I have added ticket options that will allow me to track that better and be able to adapt my workshops to fit the size of each group thanks to some helpful feedback!
In other news…
1. Why this, why now
Email subscriptions have never really been my “thing.” I try to stay up to date with my social media, but after reading so many amazing substacks I’ve decided it was time for a change.
2. I want to be a safe place in the Adoption Community
Adoption can be so complex and nuanced it can be difficult to find friends and community to connect with. So many of us can struggle with isolation, and I want to be a part of how we bridge that gap between adoptees, adoptive parents, birth parents, and professionals in the field.
3. Moving forward
The plan is to post once a month at minimum and for paid subscribers you will get an exclusive look at what I am working on behind the scenes as well as links to resources and my insight on the latest adoption news.
4. Will you join the Adoptee Thoughts Substack community?
5. Upcoming Events

ALL PROCEEDS WILL HELP FUND costs for MELISSA’s REUNION with her birth family in Colombia. We are so grateful for all help with the fundraising, we just have a little bit left to go!
